It's month-end. You have 400 lines on the bank statement, 400 lines in your books, and a $212.40 difference that won't go away. You tick, scroll, tick, scroll, and an hour later you're still looking. ReconMatch is a bank reconciliation app that does the matching for you, shows you only what's left, and suggests the entry to fix it, so you can spend your time on the items that need a look.
It's an app that opens in your web browser on your device, not an Excel or Google Sheets template.
Quick answer
ReconMatch, a browser app for your device, imports your bank statement CSV and your general ledger cash account CSV, auto-matches transactions by amount, date and check number, and builds a finished reconciliation report with the difference down to $0.00. It also suggests the journal entry for anything your books are missing.
Why bank reconciliations take so long
If you have read our guide on how to do a bank reconciliation, you know the steps are simple: match every transaction, list deposits in transit and outstanding checks, then record bank-only items like fees and interest in your books.
The steps aren't the hard part. The volume is. A few dozen transactions are easy to tick off. With a few hundred, the matching is where the hours go. One deposit made up of several receipts, a check that cleared on a different date than you recorded, a bank fee nobody entered: each one stops you and sends you back to the top of the list.
A good bank reconciliation app handles the repetitive matching so your attention goes to the items that truly need a second look.
What ReconMatch does
ReconMatch matches your bank statement to your general ledger for you, builds the finished bank rec report and suggests the journal entry to fix whatever your books are missing.
- Auto-match: pairs items by amount, date and check number, then flags anything that needs a second look.
- Many-to-one matching: one deposit made of several receipts? It can find that too.
- Manual matching: tick the leftovers to match them by hand.
- Reconciliation report: see deposits in transit, outstanding checks and bank items not yet in your books, with the difference down to $0.00.
- Suggested journal entry: for bank items your books are missing, such as fees or interest, ReconMatch proposes the correcting journal entry for you to review, not just a list of differences.
- Exports: print the report to PDF for your records and download the report and journal entry as CSV files.
Most reconciliation tools are spreadsheet templates. ReconMatch is a real matching app, and it works for bank accounts and credit card accounts alike.
See it before you use your own data: every copy includes sample data, so you can run auto-match and open a finished reconciliation in about a minute. Get ReconMatch for $29.99
How it works in three steps
1. Import
Export your bank or credit card transactions as a CSV file from online banking. Export the cash account detail from your accounting software, Excel or Google Sheets as a CSV file. Import both on the Import tab, or paste rows copied from a spreadsheet. ReconMatch reads the columns for you. Then you check the column mapping and enter your ending balances.
2. Match
Click Run auto-match. ReconMatch pairs what it can and leaves the rest for you to review. Tick any leftovers to match them by hand.
3. Report
Open the Reconciliation report tab to see a finished bank rec and the proposed journal entry. When the difference is $0.00, you are reconciled.
Want to try it before using your own data? Click Load sample data, run auto-match, and open the report. A sample bank statement, general ledger and chart of accounts are included so you can see a finished reconciliation in a minute.
Your data stays on your device
Bank data is sensitive, so ReconMatch is built to keep it private:
- It runs entirely inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is sent anywhere.
- There is no login and no account to create.
- It works offline, with no internet connection needed.
- Nothing is saved automatically. Click Save session to download a backup file, then use Open session to pick up where you left off.
Open it in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox on a device with a full-size screen. It is not made for small mobile screens. There is nothing to install and no app store download.

Who it's for
ReconMatch is a good fit if:
- You reconcile a bank or credit card account every month as a small business owner, bookkeeper or treasurer
- You have enough transactions that matching by hand takes real time
- You want a finished report and a suggested journal entry, not just a list of differences
- You work on a device with a full-size screen (it is not made for small mobile screens)
If you have only a handful of transactions and want a printable, signed record each month, the Bank Reconciliation Workbook may suit you better. You can also browse small business tools or all our apps. If you are still learning, start with our step-by-step guide and use the sample data to practice.
A note on review
ReconMatch prepares the reconciliation and a proposed entry. It does not post anything to your books. Always review the matches and the entry before you record it. That review step is what lets you trust your numbers every month.
FAQ
Is ReconMatch a spreadsheet template?
No. It is a real app that opens in your web browser from a single file. It imports CSV files and accepts rows pasted from a spreadsheet.
Does it connect to my bank or accounting software?
No. You export CSV files and import them. Nothing is uploaded, and it never posts to your books.
Can I use it on my phone?
No. It's designed for Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox on a device with a full-size screen.
Is there a subscription?
No. Buy once and it is yours to keep.
What if I need to stop halfway?
Click Save session to download a backup file, then Open session later to continue.
Is ReconMatch free?
No. ReconMatch is $29.99 as a one-time purchase, with no subscription and no monthly fee. Every copy includes sample data so you can run auto-match before you use your own files. This guide is free to read. If you want a spreadsheet instead, the Bank Reconciliation Workbook is $12.99.
Does it work on a Mac or MacBook Air?
Yes. ReconMatch runs in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, so a Mac or MacBook Air with one of those browsers works the same as any other device. It is not made for small mobile screens.
Can I keep a check register and still reconcile to the bank statement?
Yes. A bank reconciliation compares the bank statement to your books, which can be a check register or a general ledger cash account. Export that register (or the cash account) as a CSV file, export the bank statement as a CSV file, and import both. ReconMatch matches by amount, date and check number, then lists deposits in transit, outstanding checks and bank items not yet in your books.
Finish month-end with confidence
Reconciling should end with a $0.00 difference and a clear record of why. ReconMatch does the matching, builds the report and suggests the fix, and leaves you with a record you can review and keep.
